Linehan Expresses Interest in R. Williams
Never mind that the league's tampering rules prohibit an official with one NFL team from commenting publicly on his interest in a player under contract to another club. St. Louis Rams Coach Scott Linehan told reporters today that he would be interested in adding the Miami Dolphins' Ricky Williams as a backup tailback.
"He's proven himself with me," Linehan said, according to the Associated Press. "I know there would be a certain amount of risk involved based on that, but I would just because he deserves that based on what he was able to do."
Linehan previously coached Williams as the Dolphins' offensive coordinator. Williams is under contract to the Dolphins and has applied to the NFL for reinstatement after being suspended last season for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.
