Bengals Release Nicholson

The Cincinnati Bengals released linebacker A.J. Nicholson.

Nicholson pleaded not guilty today to a domestic violence charge. He is accused of striking his girlfriend last week. Nicholson has been charged with misdemeanor assault even though the woman has said she accidentally hit herself with a cell phone.

Nicholson played in only two games last season as a rookie. In March, he was sentenced to 60 days in a sheriff's work program after pleading no contest to burglary and grand theft. He'd been charged with stealing property from the apartment of a former Florida State teammate.
