Samuel a No-Show at Patriots' Camp

Cornerback Asante Samuel was absent from the New England Patriots' training camp as it got under way today.

Samuel is unsigned after being named the team's franchise player in February. He is seeking a lucrative longterm deal instead of the one-year, $7.79 million contract that he would have if he plays this season under the franchise tag.

Of the seven players league-wide given their teams' franchise tags in February, Samuel is the only one that remains unsigned.
