Colts Reportedly Lose McFarland to Season-Ending Knee Injury
An offseason of player defections depleted the Indianapolis Colts' depth, and left them vulnerable to the injuries that inevitably plague every team, every season.
Now those injuries are starting to come.
Defensive tackle Anthony McFarland hurt his knee in a practice late last week and underwent an MRI exam, and the results of that exam reportedly showed that McFarland suffered a season-ending injury. McFarland's injury comes just after the Colts released Corey Simon, that after an offseason in which the defending Super Bowl champions cut fellow veteran defensive tackle Montae Reagor.
The Colts haven't lost star players. But they have lost contributing players, and their path to another Super Bowl has become that much more arduous because their margin for error becomes smaller all the time.

Tough loss for the Colts. Booger was always an important contributor on the line. There has been substantial turnover in this defense during the offseason. Looks like they may revert to 2006 regular season defensive play - which was some of the worst defense in the league. Playing their Tampa-2 I think they can prevent teams from scoring huge amounts of points, but will this defense be able to prevent long sustained drives and get off the field against the Pats, Saints, Panthers and Bolts? I don't know.
