For Crennel and Browns, It's a Coin Flip Between Frye, Anderson
Romeo Crennel plans to use a highly advanced coaching method to pick the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback for tonight's preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
He's going to flip a coin.
At least that's what he told reporters late in the week.
Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson are competing for the starting job, at least until prized rookie Brady Quinn gets up to speed and back into favor with Crennel after reporting to training camp late because of a contract dispute. Crennel indicated that Frye and Anderson would split the work with the starters evenly against the Chiefs, so it didn't really matter which quarterback started. Asked which quarterback would get to call heads or tails, Crennel joked that perhaps the two would play rock, paper, scissors to determine that honor.
Ken Dorsey also is slated to play ahead of Quinn, Crennel told reporters.
