Eagles to be Without Tight End After Surgery for Groin Injury
Philadelphia Eagles tight end L.J. Smith underwent surgery today for a groin injury.
He'll miss Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions but it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined after that. Smith suffered a strained groin muscle in training camp after undergoing offseason surgery for a sports hernia.
He had only four catches in the Eagles' first two games of the season while struggling with the injury.
Tailback Brian Westbrook is expected to play Sunday, however. Westbrook practiced today after being bothered this week by a sprained knee.
