Bucs Place C. Simms on Injured Reserve List
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed quarterback Chris Simms on the injured reserve list, making him ineligible to play for the team this season.
He hasn't played in a regular season game since undergoing emergency surgery to have his spleen removed following a game early last season.
"We were hopeful, and Chris was hopeful," Buccaneers General Manager Bruce Allen said in a conference call with reporters. "There's nothing he hasn't tried to do to get better. He's just not at full strength yet and we don't anticipate him being at full strength until this offseason. It's just taking longer than both Chris and we had hoped for."
