Concussion Raises Questions About T. Green's Football Future
One has to wonder if quarterback Trent Green has played his final career game.
Green was knocked from the Miami Dolphins' loss Sunday in Houston when he suffered a concussion while throwing a block on Texans defensive tackle Travis Johnson. The low block enraged Johnson, and it put Green's career in jeopardy.
Green missed much of last season, while with the Kansas City Chiefs, because of a concussion suffered in the opening game of the season. In a telephone interview just before facing the Washington Redskins in the Dolphins' opener this season, Green said he'd considered retiring following that concussion with the Chiefs. He said he'd told his doctors then that if he would be at increased risk for brain damage or any other longterm health issues by returning to play, he wouldn't play again. Green said he researched concussions extensively, and decided to play after being told by doctors that his risk level would be the same as it had been before the previous concussion.
On Sunday, Green was taken from the field on a stretcher and examined at a nearby hospital, but returned to Reliant Stadium to accompany the winless Dolphins on their return trip to South Florida.
