Could K. Warner Actually Play Sunday?

If mentioning the possibility of quarterback Kurt Warner playing Sunday at FedEx Field is a ruse by the Arizona Cardinals, they're going all-out with it. Perhaps Warner actually will play, after all.

Warner found an acceptable brace for his injured left elbow and participated in practice for a second day in a row Thursday.

Warner tore a ligament in the elbow of his non-throwing arm during last Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers. He'd succeeded Matt Leinart as the Cardinals' starter after Leinart suffered a broken collarbone the previous week.

It initially seemed likely that Warner would miss at least a week and Tim Rattay would take over as Arizona's starter Sunday against the Washington Redskins. The Cardinals signed Tim Hasselbeck this week for additional depth. But Warner and Coach Ken Whisenhunt are leaving open the possibility of Warner playing this weekend. One possibility might be that he could return to the part-time role that he had before Leinart got hurt, playing in small doses to run the Cardinals' no-huddle offense.
