D. Green Among Hall of Fame Nominees
Former Washington Redskins cornerback Darrell Green was among 124 modern era candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced today.
Green is in his first year of Hall of Fame eligibility and is regarded by some voters as a likely first-ballot enshrinee. Wide receiver Cris Carter also was on the list of preliminary nominees in his first year of eligibility.
The list of nominees is to be trimmed to 25 semifinalists next month, and then to 15 modern era finalists before the Super Bowl. The media members who serve as Hall of Fame selectors are scheduled to meet on Feb. 2 in Phoenix, the day before the Super Bowl, to choose four to seven inductees from the list of 15 modern era finalists and the two nominees of the seniors committee, Emmitt Thomas and Marshall Goldberg.
