K. Warner Leaving Open Possibility of Playing Against Redskins
Perhaps it is only a ploy to try to keep the Washington Redskins guessing, but injured quarterback Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals are saying they're not ruling out Warner playing Sunday at FedEx Field.
Warner suffered a torn ligament in his left elbow during last Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers. He will not have to undergo surgery, according to the Cardinals, but it had been thought that he would be sidelined at least a week and Tim Rattay would take over as the starter against the Redskins. The Cardinals signed Tim Hasselbeck this week to provide additional depth.
But Warner participated in portions of Wednesday's practice, and told reporters he's not ruling out playing. The injury is to his non-throwing arm.
"Would I love to play on Sunday? Sure I would," he said, according to the Associated Press. "I'm going to go forward with the idea that I can. But we've just got to weigh all the options and make sure that it's something that I can do."
Warner tried several elbow braces during the practice and indicated one of the biggest obstacles to him playing might be finding one that provides the proper support.
First-year Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt had been using Warner in a part-time role, running the club's no-huddle offense, before the team lost starter Matt Leinart for the remainder of the season because of a broken collarbone. That made Warner the starter against the Panthers, but that didn't last long.
Whisenhunt denied the Cardinals were merely engaged in gamesmanship, and said: "We're going to see how much Kurt can do, see if there's something that he can do for us in the game."
It does appear that the Cardinals will have wide receiver Anquan Boldin back in the lineup. He missed the last three games because of an ailing hip but practiced Wednesday.

We'll see how well Boldin's hip has healed after he takes the first hit when he crosses into "Area 51"!!
As far as Warner playing, it might be his non-throwing arm, but QB's need both arms to take a snap, and hold onto the ball. So this news sounds like a bit of misdirection.....

I hope Warner does play. He sets fumble records when he's got two healthy elbows. I imagine he would redefine the statistic if he plays Sunday.
