Leftwich, Now Second on Falcons' Depth Chart, Suffers Minor Ankle Sprain in Practice

Atlanta Falcons backup quarterback Byron Leftwich sprained his left ankle during Thursday's practice.

Leftwich has had problems in the past with his right ankle. But this injury is to his left ankle, and it does not seem serious. He probably will be available if needed Monday night against the New York Giants.

Falcons Coach Bobby Petrino went to Leftwich late in last weekend's loss to the Tennessee Titans but announced Monday that Joey Harrington remained the team's starter at quarterback. Leftwich has overtaken Chris Redman for the backup job.
