Rattay Likely to Become Cardinals' Third Different Starting Quarterback in Three Weeks
The Arizona Cardinals likely will have their third different starting quarterback in three weeks when they face the Washington Redskins on Sunday at FedEx Field.
First it was Matt Leinart, who had his season ended by a broken collarbone. Then it was Kurt Warner, who had been sharing playing time with Leinart as a reserve but took over as the starter and then suffered an elbow injury in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Now it's expected to be Tim Rattay, who signed with the Cardinals last week and threw three interceptions against the Panthers in relief of Warner. The Cardinals are expected to sign Tim Hasselbeck to bolster their depth at the position.
Warner was scheduled to undergo an MRI exam today. He suffered apparent ligament damage in the elbow of his non-throwing arm and it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined.
Last week, the Cardinals tried but failed to sign Vinny Testaverde. He signed with the Panthers instead and beat the Cardinals on Sunday after taking over as Carolina's starter because of David Carr's ailing back.
