Holmes's Retirement Announced

Kansas City Chiefs tailback Priest Holmes has retired, the Chiefs have announced.

Holmes is scheduled to participate in a news conference this afternoon.

Holmes, 34, re-injured his neck during last weekend's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He played four games for the Chiefs this season after returning from a career-threatening neck injury suffered in 2005.

Doctors had cautioned him that another injury would force him to retire.
