It's Testaverde Vs. Favre In Oldest-Ever Quarterback Matchup

Coach John Fox today named Vinny Testaverde the starter at quarterback for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

That means that the Green Bay Packers' Brett Favre, at 38, will be the young quarterback in the game. Testaverde is 44, making it the oldest pair of quarterbacks to start against one another in an NFL game.

Who's record are they breaking ?

I am kind of wondering if it might not be the 1970 Divisional Playoff between the Colts and Raiders. Blanda was 43 and Unitas was I think, 37. That is 70 years there.

The previous record was the game earlier this year between Testaverde's Panthers (then 43) and Kurt Warner's Cardinals (37).

You are probably right about Warner and Vinny. I do not think Blanda started that game. If I remember right, Lamonica got hurt early in the game and Blanda came in off the bench.
