L. Johnson Still Trying to Return to Chiefs' Lineup, But Why?

Tailback Larry Johnson still is trying to return to the Kansas City Chiefs' lineup.

The question is: Why?

The Chiefs are 4-10. Their playoff aspirations were dissipated long ago. They haven't won since Johnson suffered a foot injury on Nov. 4. Johnson tried to practice Wednesday, apparently in hopes of playing this weekend, but failed to finish the practice.

With such a valuable player, wouldn't it be wise to shut him down for the remainder of the season and make certain that he doesn't do anything to jeopardize his chances of being fully healthy next season?
