Crennel Reportedly Agrees to Extension With Browns

PHOENIX--The Cleveland Browns and their coach, Romeo Crennel, reportedly agreed Monday night to a two-year contract extension running through the 2011 season.

The season began with Crennel's job security being questioned, but ended with him earning praise for his work as the Browns went 10-6 and just missed the playoffs. There were some whispers early in the offseason that the Miami Dolphins might try to pry him away to be their coach, but the Browns never had any intention of allowing Crennel to depart.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the extension is believed to be worth about $4 million per season. Crennel had two years remaining on his original five-year contract.
