Falcons Choose Patriots Executive as General Manager

FOXBOROUGH, Mass.--The Atlanta Falcons have chosen New England Patriots executive Tom Dimitroff as their general manager.

Dimitroff is the Patriots' director of college scouting. He replaces Rich McKay, who was retained by Falcons owner Arthur Blank as the team's president but was told he would not keep his GM duties.

The other finalist for the job was thought to be Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Tom Heckert.

The Falcons also are searching for a head coach.
