More Coaching Changes Coming?
Four NFL teams already are searching for new head coaches, and it's possible that there could be a couple more vacancies in the coming weeks.
Two coaches on teams still in the playoffs, the Indianapolis Colts' Tony Dungy and the Seattle Seahawks' Mike Holmgren, have not hidden the fact that they're considering walking away from the sport. It's not certain in either case that it will happen after this season, but it is possible.
And in both cases, there's a potential in-house replacement. Colts quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell is thought to be the likely successor to Dungy, and former Atlanta Falcons head coach Jim Mora is on the Seahawks' staff. But Caldwell, in particular, could be in a difficult position. He has interviewed for other head coaching vacancies around the league, and he could be left having to decide whether to take one of those jobs or wait to see what Dungy is going to do if Dungy doesn't make a quick decision once the Colts' season ends.
