Niners Hire Martz as Offensive Coordinator

The San Francisco 49ers hired Mike Martz as their offensive coordinator.

He replaces Jim Hostler, who was fired by the 49ers in the aftermath of the team's decision to retain Mike Nolan as its head coach.

Martz, formerly the head coach of the St. Louis Rams, just was dismissed as offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.

Nolan had listed two other just-fired former head coaches, Brian Billick and Cam Cameron, among his offensive coordinator candidates.
