No Changes in Carolina

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson told his coach, John Fox, and general manager, Marty Hurney, that their jobs are safe during two days of meetings late last week, according to Panthers officials.

There had been speculation that the jobs of Fox and Hurney could be in jeopardy after the Panthers' 7-9 season. But Richardson told both that they'll return when they met Thursday and Friday.

The Panthers won't join the four NFL teams now in the head coaching market, with Joe Gibbs's resignation leaving the Washington Redskins bunched with the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins.
