Nolan Staying Put

An NFL source confirmed reports that the San Francisco 49ers plan to retain Mike Nolan as their coach.

Nolan had two days of meetings with team co-owner John York after the 49ers completed a highly disappointing season in which they went 5-11.

Nolan apparently has agreed to relinquish final say over player-related decisions to club executive Scot McCloughan, who could get the title of general manager. The 49ers have a news conference scheduled for later this afternoon.
