Ravens Close to Hiring Cameron as Offensive Coordinator

The Baltimore Ravens are close to completing a deal to hire Cam Cameron as their offensive coordinator, an NFL source said.

John Harbaugh, the Ravens' new head coach, previously worked for Cameron in the college ranks at Indiana in 1997, when Cameron was the school's head coach.

Cameron was fired as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins after going 1-15 this season. He was the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers prior to that, and is a former quarterbacks coach of the Washington Redskins.

The Ravens hope to retain Rex Ryan as their defensive coordinator. The chances of that increased today when the Atlanta Falcons chose Mike Smith, the defensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars, as their head coach. Ryan had been a finalist for that job. The Redskins could try to hire Ryan as their defensive coordinator if they hire Jim Fassel as their head coach and don't retain Gregg Williams to oversee their defense.
