Ravens Make It Official and Retain Ryan as Defensive Boss
PHOENIX--Defensive coordinator Rex Ryan remained with the Baltimore Ravens today.
New head coach John Harbaugh also gave Ryan the title of assistant head coach.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said when he fired Brian Billick as the team's coach that Ryan and the club's other assistants were free to search for other jobs. But the Ravens never officially released Ryan from his contract. Ryan interviewed for head coaching jobs in Baltimore, Atlanta and Miami but was passed over, and the Washington Redskins also were interested in him as a defensive coordinator candidate.
