Dungy's Draft Rule: Listen to Polian
INDIANAPOLIS--As he evaluates players at the NFL scouting combine, Indianapolis Colts Coach Tony Dungy keeps one thing in mind: If Colts President Bill Polian has an inkling about a player, pay attention.
"When he says he's got a feeling on a guy," Dungy said today, "he tends to be right. He told me that on Dallas Clark. He told me that on Bob Sanders. He told me that on Joseph Addai. Now when he says he's got a feeling on a guy, I tend to develop that same feeling."
With the recent re-signings of Sanders, the safety who's the reigning NFL defensive player of the year, and Clark, the reliable pass-catching tight end, the Colts will keep the nucleus of their team intact for next season.
"We have a chance probably to have the most number of players back that we've had since I've been here," Dungy said. "We're excited about it and hopefully that continuity will help us."
