Free Agency Opens Tonight
Free agency opens tonight just after midnight.
Quickly, here are my top five unrestricted free agents:
1. Randy Moss, WR, Patriots
2. Asante Samuel, CB, Patriots
3. Lance Briggs, LB, Bears
4. Alan Faneca, G, Steelers
5. Michael Turner, RB, Chargers
Most people in the league don't seem to be regarding this as a deep free agent class at all. Later today, I'll do a top five at every position that includes the players who've been cut.

Well after nearly of month of randomly exclaiming to myself and whoever is nearby, "I can't believe we lost that ^&$&%$ game," I guess it's time to look forward.
Here's hoping the Pats resign Moss, everybody involved wants to it happen so I have to think it will. I would also love to have Samuel back, but someone will pay him $20+ mill guaranteed, somehting like Clements's contract in San Fran. He does have more interceptions in the last two years (maybe more years than that) than anyone else while playing in huge games. There just aren't that many really good corners out there, especially since the rules changes. Thank you Bill Polian.
I have to think we won't pursue Samuel and instead draft a corner or two and work free agency. Otherwise why hire Dom Capers to be your secondary coach? I would think it is to work with a lot of rookies and free agents. Maybe Talib with the 7th pick unless Gholston is still there?
Of course being Pats-centric here, I also think Rosie Colvin would be an enticing free agent for a lot of teams. An excellent weakside linebacker who did well in a 3-4 but would realy thrive in a 4-3 with fewer containment and edge responsibilities. We saw a noted decline in production from the linebacking corps after he went down for the season.
All that said, how on earth did we lose that game? Maybe I'm not ready for football yet. Go Sox. Go Celts.

It will no fun to lose Michael Turner but that is the way the business works nowdays.
On Asante Samuel, CB, Patriots: If he had intercepted the pass on the sideline during the final Giant drive, the Pat's would be undefeated now. He was burned multiple times earlier, but when the pass went right through his hands it was obvious he is only a legend in his own mind. Everybody should stay smart and pass on his services.
