M. Lewis Says Bengals Won't Trade C. Johnson

The Cincinnati Bengals are saying they won't trade wide receiver Chad Johnson.

Johnson has voiced his displeasure with the organization in recent weeks and has indicated he might like to play elsewhere next season, and the Washington Redskins reportedly are interested in trading for him.

But the Bengals would have to absorb a salary cap hit of just more than $8 million to trade him, and Coach Marvin Lewis said the outspoken wideout is staying put.

"Number one, the guy has a contract through 2011, okay," Lewis said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "No one within the Bengals organization has ever spoken of or ever uttered anything about trading Chad Johnson, nor will he be traded.... So I think that's pretty clear. Things can move on. Our player, we know, is very passionate about the game. He continues to play at a very, very high level. He has been very, very productive. He has been well-compensated."

Oh, I'm sure Marvin Lewis has a price in mind for Chad Johnson, especially since TJ Hooshmazou and Chris Henry are very productive. If he had come out and said, "C.J. won't be a Bengal next year," then he would have lowered Johnson's value.

So I'm betting Snyd-Rato is currently trying to determine just how many draft choices to sacrifice this year and next to get another guy whose loyalties are to the mighty dolla bill and not the skins. Nothing changes.

yeah the worst thing we could do is trade for a snivelly whining jack@ss like Ocho-Cinqo. it'd be a huge waste or money and draft picks, let alone the position that he would play. who needs ocho-cinqo in a West Coast Offense? That makes no sense
