Mora Reportedly to be Designated Holmgren's Successor

According to several reports, the Seattle Seahawks will designate secondary coach Jim Mora as their successor to exiting head coach Mike Holmgren.

Holmgren has said that next season will be his final one as the team's coach.

Mora is the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He withdrew from consideration for the Washington Redskins' head coaching vacancy in recent weeks.

According to league officials, a team is allowed to put a clause in an assistant coach's contract guaranteeing his ascension to the head coaching job without interviewing at least one minority candidate for the job. It is, they say, the lone exception to the league's minority interviewing rule.
