R. Moss Untagged
INDIANAPOLIS--The New England Patriots did not use their franchise player tag on wide receiver Randy Moss, leaving him eligible for unrestricted free agency on Feb. 29.
The Patriots still can re-sign Moss but are restricted from doing so before Feb. 29. Moss agreed to a reworked contract to be traded to the Patriots last spring and the deal cannot be readjusted again until the new league year begins. That's the same day the free agent market opens.
The deadline for teams to use the franchise tag came at 4 p.m.
