Steelers Use Transition Tag on M. Starks
The Pittsburgh Steelers used their transition player tag on offensive tackle Max Starks.
The move gives the Steelers the right to retain Starks by matching any contract offer that he receives from another team in free agency. But they don't receive any draft pick compensation if Starks leaves, as they would if they'd used the franchise player tag on Starks.
Starks would have a salary of $6.895 million next season as the Steelers' transition player, less than the $7.455 million salary for an offensive lineman who's given the franchise player tag this offseason.
