T. Green Agrees to Deal With Rams to Back Up M. Bulger

Quarterback Trent Green, a free agent after being released by the Miami Dolphins, has agreed to a contract with the St. Louis Rams.

Green, 37, is to back up Marc Bulger in St. Louis.

He also had drawn interest from the New Orleans Saints as a prospective backup for Drew Brees after receiving medical clearance to continue his NFL career. Green, while with the Dolphins this past season, suffered his second severe concussion in two years.

Green returns to the Rams, with whom he also signed as a free agent in 1999 following a stint with the Washington Redskins. Then, Green was to be the Rams' starter but suffered a preseason knee injury that gave an opportunity to a little-known reserve named Kurt Warner. Green moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2001 and then the Dolphins last year, and now returns to St. Louis to presumably finish his career.
