Lions Dismissing R. Williams Trade Rumors

Detroit Lions officials continue to dismiss reports that they're considering trading wide receiver Roy Williams.

The latest media speculation out of Philadelphia has Williams being traded this week to the Eagles, Dallas Cowboys or Washington Redskins. The talk has arisen because Williams is entering the final season of his contract and the Lions used the second overall choice in last year's NFL draft on another sturdy wideout, Calvin Johnson.

But Lions officials have said they don't intend to trade Williams, and team president Matt Millen and Coach Rod Marinelli shrugged off the latest rumblings during the club's pre-draft news conference Monday.
