Opposition to Reseeding Proposal
PALM BEACH, Fla.--It seems like a long shot that the competition committee's reseeding proposal will be ratified by the owners at this league meeting.
Under the proposal, wild card playoff teams would be eligible for the third through sixth postseason seeds in each conference, instead of merely the fifth and sixth seeds. The measure is intended to eliminate some meaningless games at the end of the regular season.
But there appears to be opposition to the proposal. It must be ratified by at least 24 of the 32 clubs to be enacted, and some owners seem to regard it as unnecessary. Others, it appears, want to maintain the reward for being a division winner.

i can't say i thought it'd go through the old boys -- but this rule adjustment is just common sense.
