Patriots to Take 23-Game Regular Season Winning Streak Into October Game in San Diego?

The New England Patriots will take a 19-game regular season winning streak into next season.

It's difficult to envision them not extending it to 23 games in a row. Their first four games are against the Chiefs, Jets, Dolphins and 49ers (with a Week 4 bye thrown in for good measure).

After that comes an Oct. 12 game at San Diego in a rematch of the AFC title game won by the Patriots before their Super Bowl defeat to the New York Giants.

The Patriots also play rugged road games at Indianapolis on Nov. 2 and at Seattle on Dec. 7, and they have a tough home game on Nov. 30 against the Steelers.

Still, the Patriots won't have to be anywhere near as good as they were last season to win 12 or more games against this schedule.

The Pats can do whatever they want. The Giants are the champions.

I thought the schedules were supposed to be weighted... They make it to the SB and get Division 1A opponents and the Redskins take on 3 division foes in the first 5 weeks ON THE ROAD, notwithstanding that two of those teams made the playoffs and the Giants of course won the SB. Are they TRYING to make Boston fans more annoying?

For those who are talking about weighted schedules. Only two games are set by record. The rest is 6 games against your division, and 8 games set years in advance against 2 other divisions. So if you get lucky and are playing weak divisions, you'll have an easy schedule.

I suppose it has to happen but it's a bummer that we get both the AFC West and the NFC West in the same year. That means four west coast trips. Once we see what happens in the draft and the rest of free agency then we should start being able to talk intelligently about how good many of these teams will be. We know the Pats and Colts will be good, probably San Diego too, and that a few teams will be bad, Fins, Jets, Chiefs, but beyond that who knows.

And anyone who says the league is making it easy for the Pats is just plain ignorant as Aaron has more politely pointed out. AFC East champs get 6 against division, 4 with the AFC West, 4 with NFC West, the the AFC South division winner on the road (Colts) and the AFC North division winner at home (Steelers). There are your 16 games.

Would someone not knowing the process be considered ignorant for wondering why a team can go 16-0 in the regualer season and not have to face any decent teams until week 6? A lot of people think the pats are the best team in football so we want to see them knock off elite teams, not those in rebuilding mode. So "pats fan" to call those of us who didn't know ignorant proves pats fans really are annoying.

Hi, +ly 1/2 St! And props to the NYG for doing it.

Pats get 4 division winners. If you are going to give them grief about a soft schedule, just give them props for their regular season last year, when they had to go through the NFC East (3 playoff teams), Cleveland at 10-6, at SD, at Indy, and the Steelers. Adults would say these things even out. And again, props to NYG, who just went out and did it.
