Raiders Release D. Rhodes
The Oakland Raiders released tailback Dominic Rhodes, a former Super Bowl standout for the Indianapolis Colts.
The move comes in the aftermath of an NFL draft in which the Raiders used the fourth overall selection Saturday on Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden.
The Raiders still have tailbacks Justin Fargas, LaMont Jordan and Michael Bush on the roster as well.
Rhodes was one season into a two-year contract with the Raiders. He ran for 302 yards for the Raiders in his one season in Oakland.
In 2006, he shared the Colts' tailback duties with Joseph Addai and helped the club to a Super Bowl title. Rhodes ran for 113 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' Super Bowl triumph over the Chicago Bears.
Rhodes's most productive regular season came as a rookie in 2001, when he rushed for 1,104 yards for the Colts.
