Giants Cut Lorenzen
The New York Giants have released quarterback Jared Lorenzen.
Lorenzen was known for his linebacker-like heft more than his skill, being officially listed at 285 pounds. But he was the top backup to Eli Manning at times last season.
Lorenzen became expendable when the Giants signed David Carr and drafted Andre Woodson this offseason to go with Manning and fellow holdover Anthony Wright.
Carr and Wright presumably will compete for the top backup job next season.
