Titans Reportedly Considering Haynesworth's Offer
The Tennessee Titans reportedly are considering defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth's offer to sign his franchise player deal for next season if the team agrees not to use its franchise tag on him again in 2009.
Haynesworth remains unsigned after being tagged by the Titans in February. He has offered to sign his one-year, $7.25 million deal if the Titans agree not to tag him the following spring, enabling him to be an unrestricted free agent. Coach Jeff Fisher had expressed doubts about such an arrangement, but General Manager Mike Reinfeldt told the Tennessean that it's a possibility.
"With the right situation we might consider it," Reinfeldt told the newspaper.
Any such deal with Haynesworth might include a provision that he play a minimum number of snaps next season to avoid being franchised again.
