Favre Reinstatement Delayed Another Day

Brett Favre wasn't reinstated today by the NFL.

Commissioner Roger Goodell delayed Favre's reinstatement by at least another day to allow more time for the retired quarterback and the Green Bay Packers to try to settle their differences.

Favre sent his reinstatement request to the league office in New York on Tuesday.

So the Packers now can delay Favre's return to the practice field until Sunday, if they wish. If Goodell reinstates Favre on Friday, the Packers can wait until Saturday to put him back on their roster. They have 24 hours to trade him, release him or put him on their roster after Goodell reinstates him.

It's not clear if Favre will postpone his scheduled trip to Green Bay this evening.
