Favre Resolution Near?

Many people around the league expect the Brett Favre situation to be resolved within the next 48 hours.

The most likely outcome, some of them continue to believe, is the quarterback being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Green Bay Packers, to whom Favre remains under contract, report to training camp Sunday and practice Monday morning.

The Packers and Favre might have to agree to a trade destination since Favre could, in effect, block any deal by refusing to come out of retirement if he's dealt to a club for which he doesn't want to play. In Tampa, Favre would be playing for Coach Jon Gruden, a former Packers assistant, in a familiar West Coast offensive system.

Packers CEO Mark Murphy, General Manager Ted Thompson and Coach Mike McCarthy met with the team's shareholders Thursday. Murphy told reporters afterward that the retirement of Favre's jersey No. 4, scheduled for the Packers' opening regular season game, might have to be postponed.

I thought FAVRE was NOT familiar with GRUDEN'S West Coast Offensive system!!! And so he probably would NOT be a starter at Tampa Bay.

Gruden's version of the West Coast offense is not that different from McCarthy's version. If Favre goes to Tampa, he'll be the starter. He's not going to agree to come out of retirement to be traded somewhere to be a backup.

if any of u guys think Farve is going to play anywhere other than Green Bay, then he obviously never got his point across all those times he spoke to the media and told them that he isn't in it for the money or for the records. He plays because he loves to, and he plays for Green Bay cause he loves them. So if he is going to play anywhere else it will be the Vikings so he can stick it to Ted "Fing" Thompson twice a year for the next 3 to 4 years
