First Packers' Practice Comes This Morning as Favre Trade Talks Continue

GREEN BAY, Wis.--It's a sunny morning in Green Bay and the Packers are scheduled to begin training camp with a practice in a little over two hours.

Brett Favre's designated successor at quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is to be taking the snaps with the starting offense, with Favre still at home in Mississippi and, for now, still retired.

Packers General Manager Ted Thompson is to speak to reporters once per week throughout training camp and one of those sessions is listed as taking place this afternoon.

Think there might be a Favre question or two?

Some people in the league think a trade to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be close. The New York Jets also have expressed interest, according to sources, but are not thought to be pursuing a Favre trade as vigorously as the Buccaneers are.
