Moving Day For Favre? (With McCarthy Press Conference Update)
A couple league sources said this morning that the Green Bay Packers have been asking for way, way more than they're going to get in trade discussions for Brett Favre.
Still, they're convinced that the Packers will reduce their asking price and something could get done today, most likely with the Buccaneers. The Jets remain in the running as well.
The Packers are willing to allow either to those teams to communicate with Favre, sources said. It's unclear if either has contacted him.
Packers Coach Mike McCarthy held a previously scheduled press conference and reiterated, "Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers," adding that Favre retired and the team moved on. Speaking of Rodgers, McCarthy said: "He's prepared himself for this opportunity. I'm excited for him and we've moved on."
Packers players are to begin moving into their training camp dorm rooms today in De Pere, Wis. There's a 7 a.m. team meeting scheduled for Sunday.
The Packers accelerated trade talks after being told by Favre that he planned to report to camp with them.
Now the question is whether the Packers will get a trade done to ensure that Favre doesn't show up at their camp.

Great way to repay Brett for his 15 years of dedication and hard work.
Only one (1) game away from the Super Bowl.
Wow, isn't football a wonderful BUSINESS.
Brett is having second thoughts about retirement and in view of last years statistics why not, he still has it. His rewards for all he has done for GB is back-up quarterback. Lets see how far Green Bay get with Rodgers, before for the fans for Brett's return.

Favre had a great run. Last year was wonderful, however the previous two years were mediocre at best. He must understand "all great things must come to an end" and you can't play forever. I hope he has the foresight to "call it a day" and let it go. In his last game he had three chances in the last nine minutes to get it done and they couldn't do it. This circus is not good for football or any organization. Even if he does give it one more year, odds are he will be an "average joe" in the NFL at this point.

From where I sit, here in Sydney, Australia, Brett Favre has given a life of committment to the Packers. Aaron Rodgers will go OK, most QB's go ' OK', I mean, really, Trent Dilfer won the Superbowl ( or was it the team). So, its possible for the Packers to get to a superbowl without Favre. It's the onfield wisdom of Favre that makes him special. His reads on plays, the audible calls when he sees something. Brett will be a great QB with the Bucs, or with any other team, so long as he can learn a new offense. He made Javon Walker look better than what he is ( where is he now??), as he has done with so many other wide receivers. He has a great arm, great football prowess, is a great leader, and will go on for another 4 or 5 years with another team, probably go to 350+ games on the trot, and play really really well to boot. Go show them how its done, Brett. Have another MVP year.

I can't BELIEVE some of you "fans." First, and this goes out to all those morons who dump on Favre. Prior to this past season he lost his: dad, father-in-law, brother-in-law and had his wife diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, so if he kept us waiting for a few seasons boo-&%$#@-hoo, poor us. This past season he retired and changed his mind. So? Ali, Foreman, Parcells and Jordan have done it; just to name a few. When this guy had the game of his life the day AFTER his father died, we all couldn't say enough great things about him. Now some treat him if he wasn't the most successful, possibly the greatest QB ever to play the game. Some of you make me sick. If it comes down to WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE PACKERS; it's Favre as their starter. I am EMBARASSED for the Packers and the fact that Thompson pressured Favre into making a decision. Favre is owed a one time: "Get Out've Retirement Free" card. You make exceptions for exceptional people. It's only football, I know, but some of you who profess to be "PackerBackers" and all that other crap, turn my stomach. And here's one more thing you can chew on: If Ron Wolf were still around this wouldn't be happening. Fire Thompson, get Favre in there (Respectfully to Rodgers, you may be good one day, but it ain't your time) and let's win a Super Bowl.

Favre isn't going to the Yuccs, he's going to the J-E-T-S.
