Sore Elbow Keeps Raiders' Russell Out of Full Team Drills

The Oakland Raiders hope that quarterback JaMarcus Russell will be ready to resume practicing fully by week's end.

Russell was withheld from full team drills Wednesday because of a sore right elbow. He suffered the injury a day earlier when he accidentally hit his elbow against the helmet of tailback Darren McFadden while throwing.

The second-year pro is in his first NFL training camp. He missed all of camp as a rookie because of a contract dispute. The Raiders plan for the former top overall selection in the NFL draft to be their starter this season.
