C. Henry Owes Latest Chance to Bengals Owner

Coach Marvin Lewis said at an evening news conference that Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown made the decision to give wide receiver Chris Henry another chance with the team.

"I obviously know that at the end of the day, that the owner has the final say-so on whether or not he wants to give a guy an opportunity or not," Lewis said, according to the Associated Press. "Mike has wanted to give Chris this opportunity, and asks that we do the best job that we can to try to prepare him and get him ready to play football."

The Bengals re-signed Henry today. He'd been released by the Bengals in April after being arrested on an assault charge that later was dropped by prosecutors.

He still must serve a four-game suspension without pay at the outset of the regular season, imposed by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Henry was suspended for the first eight games of last season under the policy.

He vowed at tonight's news conference to take advantage of the chance he's being given, which he said he'd feared he wouldn't get.

"I was scared at one point that I wouldn't have the opportunity to be back on the field," Henry said, according to the AP.

The Bengals reportedly signed Henry to a two-year contract. Previous indications had been that it was only a one-year deal.
