Coles's Angst and Favre's Lap

Not everyone with the New York Jets seems overjoyed with the team's decision to trade for Brett Favre and release Chad Pennington.

Wide receiver Laveranues Coles is close to Pennington and is said by people familiar with the situation to be upset about Pennington's abrupt departure.

Coles has refused to discuss the matter so far with reporters.

Favre, however, is endearing himself to others. He won over teammates and fans by running a punishment lap with center Nick Mangold during Sunday's practice after the two combined to fumble a snap. Coach Eric Mangini has a rule that transgressions such as a fumble or dropped pass result in a lap by the offender, and fans cheered as Favre ran his. Video of Favre's lap was posted on YouTube soon after it happened. Everything he does, it seems, continues to be big news.

Coles has been and always will be a malcontent. Simply dumping Pennington wasn't necessarily the classiest move, but the NFL is a business. No matter to Coles, though, because he'll whine and moan about anything and everything.

Colin, you are right it wasn't the classiest move, but think if the Jets decided to hold on to him, to trade him. At least Pennington got the choice of where he wants to go, if they trade him, he has no say.

Either way he did get the shaft.
