Giants Facing Tough Task to Convince Strahan to Return

People within the league are skeptical that the New York Giants will be able to lure Michael Strahan out of retirement.

The Giants launched talks with Strahan after learning Sunday that fellow defensive end Osi Umenyiora suffered a season-ending knee injury during a preseason game Saturday night. It was thought by some observers that a lucrative contract offer would bring Strahan off the Fox television set and back into the Giants' lineup.

But there is talk around the league that it's quite a long shot that Strahan would return. He is said by those who know him to be comfortable with his retirement decision and eager to get his TV career under way. They say that Strahan probably would want far, far more money to come back than the Giants would be willing to offer.
