Giants Keep Only Two QBs, Add J. Carney to Kick
The New York Giants kept only two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, with David Carr backing up Eli Manning. They released both Anthony Wright and rookie Andre Woodson today.
The Giants could attempt to re-sign Woodson to the practice squad.
The Giants also signed kicker John Carney. He will be the at-least-temporary replacement for Lawrence Tynes, who underwent recent exploratory knee surgery. It's unclear when Tynes will be ready to kick again. Carney is penciled in to be the Giants' kicker in Thursday night's game against the Washington Redskins in the NFL's season opener.
The Giants released fill-in kicker Josh Huston. The 44-year-old Carney had a workout with the team today before being signed.
