Growing Speculation That Bengals Will Re-Sign C. Henry
There is growing speculation tonight that the Cincinnati Bengals will re-sign wide receiver Chris Henry.
The Bengals released Henry in April after he was arrested on an assault charge, the latest in a series of off-field incidents in which he was involved. After a mistrial, prosecutors dropped the charge after some pretrial rulings went against them before the scheduled retrial.
The NFL suspended Henry for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Henry also was suspended for the first half of last season under the policy.
The Bengals are shorthanded at receiver, with T.J. Houshmandzadeh sidelined by a hamstring injury and Chad Johnson plagued by a sprained shoulder.
Cincinnati-area media outlets had speculated in recent days that Henry could be re-signed by the team. ESPN reported tonight that Henry was headed to Cincinnati and might sign with the Bengals as soon as Tuesday.
