Hayes, Humphrey Nominated For Hall of Fame

Wide receiver Bob Hayes and defensive end Claude Humphrey were nominated by the seniors committee for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame next year.

The late Hayes, a former Olympic sprint champion, played for the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers between 1965 and '75. Humphrey played for the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles between 1968 and '81.

Hayes and Humphrey must receive 80 percent of the votes of the media members who serve as Hall of Fame selectors, who will meet in Tampa, Fla., on Jan. 31, the day before this season's Super Bowl. The two seniors committee nominees will be considered by the voters along with 15 modern era finalists, and four to seven inductees will be elected.
