M. Jones Pleads Not Guilty in Drug Possession Case

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones pleaded not guilty today to a cocaine possession charge.

He is free on bond and is scheduled to go on trial Oct. 10.

If convicted, Jones faces up to 10 years in jail and a fine as much as $10,000.

Jones was arrested last month in Arkansas after a police officer allegedly saw him cutting up cocaine with a credit card inside a car.

He had three catches in a preseason game Saturday against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Associated Press reported that neither Jones nor his attorney would comment following a brief hearing in court today in Fayetteville, Ark.
