Moment of Silence For Upshaw at This Weekend's Games

Late NFL Players Association chief Gene Upshaw is to be honored with a moment of silence at each preseason game this weekend.

The league office informed teams of the tribute in a memo.

Upshaw died Wednesday night at a home he owned in California, three days after going to a nearby hospital for tests that led to him later being diagnosed with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced but there reportedly will be a private family service in California, followed by a memorial service in Washington next month.
